Abstract

The career transitions of teaching professionals are an emerging phenomenon that has been little analyzed in the literature. In view of the above, this study carried out a scoping review of the literature. The aim of the study was to map the existing literature on the career transition of teaching professionals, considering the main definitions, central themes, instruments and methods used. The results highlighted the predominance of qualitative studies, with an emphasis on the transition to teaching as a second career, especially by health professionals. There was a need for more in-depth studies on different transition contexts, impacts on teaching practices and the support resources needed for a successful transition.
