  • The text must be an original contribution, unpublished and not submitted for publication by another journal. Otherwise, justification must be provided in “Comments to the editor.”
  • The text must be consistent, based on principles of scientific knowledge construction, with relevant and up-to-date theoretical and conceptual references.

Types of works accepted for publication

The Intersaberes Journal accepts for publication:

  • Theoretical development articles (45,000 to 60,000 characters with spaces);
  • Empirical research (45,000 to 60,000 characters with spaces);
  • Essays (45,000 to 60,000 characters with spaces) and reviews (4,000 to 6,000 characters with spaces).

Theoretical development articles are based on bibliographic research, proposing new models and interpretations of facts relevant to the academic community.

Empirical works are based on methodologically grounded research, carefully conducted and properly analyzed.

Essays and reviews are freer forms of scientific contribution. They should be characterized by critical and, at times, creative approaches, leading readers to reflect on relevant topics in the field of knowledge.

Evaluation Process

The evaluation process consists of three stages:

  • Preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Board, which examines the suitability of the work to the journal's editorial line and subject area, the complete registration of the authors on the journal's platform, and the formatting of the file in the template;
  • Peer review, which consists of an evaluation carried out by two independent researchers whose area of expertise coincides with the research topic addressed by the work to be evaluated;
  • Evaluation of the final version of the article by the Editorial Board, considering the updates to the text suggested by the reviewers (when applicable), as well as issues of writing and formatting.

Criteria to be considered for evaluation:

  • Quality of the content presented: clarity in the presentation of ideas, articulation between propositions, with clear explanations for the reader, scientific and language standards of the proposed discussion;
  • Theoretical-conceptual framework: it must reflect knowledge in the specific area and be up to date.

Text structure

The text submitted must be inserted into the template, written on A4 paper, using Word (or similar compatible) text editor, Candara 12 font, 1.5 line spacing. All guidelines on file formatting are detailed in the template.

Ethical issues

Intersaberes Journal is committed to complying with ethical principles related to the evaluation and publication process. In general, ethical decisions and procedures are based on the following documents:

Regarding authorship

The journal recommends that authors and co-authors openly discuss the order of authorship and the co-authors to be included in the article. Authors should bear in mind items 17 and 20 of the CNPq document (Ethics and integrity in scientific practice): “Only people who have made a significant contribution to the work deserve authorship in a manuscript;  Authors should be able to describe, when requested, their personal contribution to the work.”

Plagiarism and self-plagiarism

The journal's editorial staff uses a plagiarism control program (Copy Spider) before sending articles to reviewers.

It is up to the authors to ensure that all ideas from other authors are properly cited and included in the list of references.

With regard to self-plagiarism, the article must be an original contribution and citations from previous works by the same authors should be limited to what is strictly necessary for understanding the text, in which refers to theory or methodology (according to the APA Manual).

In the case of calls for articles for dossiers, the journal follows all the items mentioned in the call.
